This ongoing body of work, developed during Rao’s 2024 residency at the Center for Book Arts, is an evolution of her previous project, Trays. Through the interplay of form, paper, and image, Rao explores her research in diverse areas, including the Goan alcoholic beverage feni and dorozome (mud-dyeing), a technique she studied in 2023 as a CCA Islands Travel Fellow in Japan. Each box is crafted from bookboard, paper, and a photograph, and comes with its own lid.
