Created in 2025, Interpose is a quilted cotton score conceived as a progression of Rao’s works on hospitality mediated through bar counters. Here, the bar counter takes the form of a long rectangle embedded within the quilted work, with ceramic objects placed upon it. Appliqued numbers and shapes suggest movement for objects and people. The work is intended to be displayed as an installation and activated once over the course of the exhibition by two performers.
