This book launch, performed by Wah-Ming Chang, took place at BookSmart Fair at Art on Paper New York in September 2024.

On Solitary Viewership by Rujuta Rao is an artist book composed of 93 flashcards held together by a clamp. In her book, Rao reflects on the creation of art for individual viewers, her relationship with her late mentor Aveek Sen, their conversations on queerness, and her broader art practice. The book is made with sublimation printing in an edition of 30. 

The book delves into the subject of mentorship, examining its connections to bondage and agency. The book also explores how Rao’s migratory life and transience informs her mobile works and the intimate, often handheld scale of her artwork.
