Small Structures in Wet Clay

In this work, miniature fragments of architectural forms were made with wet clay on plywood. For months after making them, Rao would spray them with water, and cover them with a wet cloth and plastic to keep them moist. This practice enabled Rao to explore the boundaries of making sculpture and its inherent materiality while exploring the live component of her practice.

A series of monotypes were made alongside this work.
