Volume

Developed during the Rao’s Spring 2025 residency at the Bemis Center, Volume is a mobile, expandable bar structure that mirrors the form of a book. Like a codex, its contents, ceramic and plaster artworks created by the artist, are housed between its covers. When expanded, the structure unfolds into a defined space with a bar counter, serving as an interface for dialogue. Guided by a menu of objects, interactions emerge between bartender and participant, author and reader.
